I also wonder what the result would have been had Joy, the black woman, been the one to respond to the clerk. I imagine the situation and outcome would have been much different. Labeling her as the "angry black woman" would have served the clerk by taking the focus off the clerk's actions and placing them on Joy. I think, in situations like the one presented, that the use of white privilege to challenge discrimination is important and useful to point out others prejudice actions without being accused of 'playing the race card."
What an amazing example. Two things that stood out to me in this video was the fact that the Black woman had to do one of those "you just have to choose one of your battles" and the other was how she was describe how her sister-in-law recognized how she was seen by the world and choose to us that privledge in influnceing others.
